Dr Matt Pinkerton's specialities are ocean remote sensing and ecosystem modelling. His research is used in determining functional biodiversity, particularly applied to assessing risks from the effects of fishing and climate change. Matt is Earth Sciences New Zealand Principal Scientist, was the programme leader of the Ross Sea Research and Monitoring Programme (Ross RAMP), and is a member of the New Zealand Antarctic working group, CCAMLR Stakeholders Forum, and the Antarctic Science Platform, working within Project 3, Projecting Ross Sea Ecosystem Changes.
