Researcher
Dr Johan Etourneau is an Associate Professor in paleoclimatology/paleoceanography at the École Pratique des Hautes Études (EPHE)/Université de Recherche Paris Science Lettres (PSL), based at the University of Bordeaux. His expertise in organic geochemistry is based on the use of molecular tools (e.g. alkenones, alkenes, pigments, fatty acids, sterols, GDGTs, ancient DNA) produced by marine phytoplankton to study, among other things, climatic and environmental changes in Antarctica during the warm periods and the major transitions of the Cenozoic. He is mainly interested in the reconstruction of hydroclimatic and biogeochemical parameters.
