Professor James Renwick has a background in atmospheric physics, mathematics and statistics, with broad interests in most aspects of climate, from the distant past to the near future. This includes paleoclimate, synoptic climatology, New Zealand climate, climate modelling, climate change, and the use of statistical techniques to analyse large data sets. James was a NZ Climate Change Commissioner for five years and was involved with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and the World Climate Research Programme for twenty years.
