Dr Denise Fernandez is a physical oceanographer based at Earth Sciences New Zealand. One of her main research interests is to understand what drives ocean heat, salt and oxygen changes in parallel with increasing global temperatures. She has been at sea in the Pacific and Southern Ocean six times, helping to collect and process data. She completed her Masters in Geophysics at Victoria University of Wellington, followed by a PhD in Physical Oceanography from the University of Auckland in 2017.
